Check out this link. My friend, K1VV, just sent this to me. It is hilarious.

Searching for houses

I have been researching houses and their locations on the internet with the help of some nifty tools available from the federal government. I would like to have an affordable house ontop of a mountain. Drop-off is required in all directions. We can dream! I have been using EarthExplorer from the U.S. Geological Survey. It is a really nice tool. You can determine approximate coordinates from a map and pull much the available federal data.

Does anyone have Yagi Terrain? I would like to utilize this program. NB1B told me about it.

CQ Zones

It looks like I only have 10 zones confirmed out of 40 zones confirmed. I would like to know if people in Eastern Massachusetts have recently worked anything by any mode in zones 21, 22, 23, 18, 29, etc. I have a big hole towards Oceania. I am not working anything that way. I was wondering why. I guess that I should not live in a flood plain!

I am also working on finding myself some new cycling shoes that are warm enough for riding during the winter. Did I mention that I worked W3FF while he was bicycle mobile? He had no problems with the cold since he was in California during that contact!

Observations from the CINC

I do not have much to report. I have been listening to some of the recent broadcasts from Solder Smoke. They put out some new ones while I was not watching in the past few months. They have some fun little discussions. My friend KB1TOM put me onto Solder Smoke. I was just reading some of the back issues from CQ magazine during the past year. I saw a picture of my friends including KB1TOM in CQ. KB1TOM was even on the cover of WorldRadio magazine during the past year. One of my other friends failed to even notice our mutual friend on the cover. He kept looking throughout the magazine for the picture.
I did manage to get in a few QSL cards. I have sent off QSL cards for my last two expeditions to the Bost on Light site and Brant Rock. I am not getting many QSOs confirmed in LoTW. My paper QSL percentage is actually much higher! EQSL seems to be the best. I am AG certified in EQsl. However, EQSL is not used for ARRL awards, which has left me in a dither.

I have 76 countries worked on various bands. Many have been worked on 20 meters. I do like 17 meters as evidenced by my many hours of 17 meter operation at the Fessenden commeration. I have a bunch on 17. The next highest DX count is on 80 meters. I do not have any 160 meters contacts. I have 37 states worked.

However, I only have 28 states confirmed. At least I have more worked states confirmed than worked countries. I only have 22 confirmed countries! I have even resorted to sending preaddressed envelopes to DX stations with an IRC. I have no problem buying IRCs. I bought a few in the Fall River Post Office. They did not have the slightlest problem or apprehension in selling those to me. They did have a problem with me mailing things to Venezuela and Russia. I do not know why. I was asked repeatedly.

I just want to get some cards! So I have mailed those off direct and bypassed the buros. I am wondering if I would ever get my african cards from certain countries as the operator is from Russia. I am concerned about horror stories of cards never making it to Russian operators due to theft./div>
